Congratulations on your new puppy! That first vet visit sets the tone for a lifetime of easy, low-stress care. Here’s exactly what to bring and what we’ll cover, so you can walk in feeling prepared.

A puppy at its first veterinary visit

What to bring

A little preparation makes the visit smoother for everyone, especially your puppy.

  • Any paperwork from the breeder or shelter

  • Records of vaccines or deworming already given

  • A fresh stool sample (less than 12 hours old)

  • The name of the food they currently eat

  • Your questions, no matter how small

What we’ll do

Your puppy’s first exam is a gentle, thorough nose-to-tail checkup. We’ll listen to the heart and lungs, check the eyes, ears, and mouth, feel the belly, and weigh them to start tracking growth. Then we’ll map out a vaccine and parasite-prevention plan built around their age and lifestyle.

Making it a positive experience

We’re a Fear-Free certified clinic, which means we go at your puppy’s pace with plenty of treats and patience. The goal is for your puppy to actually enjoy coming to see us, because a dog who loves the vet is a dog who gets better care for life.

The socialization window

The weeks between 8 and 16 are a critical socialization window. We’ll talk through safe ways to introduce your puppy to new people, sounds, and experiences while their vaccine series is still in progress.
